Niki Tsironi is historian-byzantinist and systemic counselor. She holds a BA, an MA and a PhD in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies obtained at King’s College London, and a graduate certificate in psychology from ACG (2022). Since 2000 she has been working at the Institute for Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation, and since 2013 she has been an Associate in Byzantine Studies at the Center for Hellenic Studies of Harvard University, Washington D.C. Since 2017, she has been an Adjunct Professor of Byzantine Studies at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for Hellenic Studies of the Simon Fraser University, Vancouver CA. In March 2023, she became a visiting fellow of the Institute for Hellenic Culture and Liberal Arts of The American College of Greece. She has published on the cult of the Virgin, the history of the book in Byzantium, performance and performativity, and on emotions and the senses in Byzantine culture. She is currently directing the research project on emotion in history and psychology: time, gender, society, hosted by the IHR/NHRF, the CHS-Harvard and the Laboratory for Human Relations.
