Nicolette S. Trahoulia is Professor of Art History at Deree – The American College of Greece. She is the author of The Greek Alexander Romance: Venice Hellenic Institute Codex 5 (1997) and co-editor of The Discerning Gaze: Image and Materiality in Byzantium and Beyond (forthcoming). She is a former Fulbright research scholar and a Dumbarton Oaks Junior Fellow. She has published on topics relating to gender and hagiography, art and subjectivity, as well as the interface of text, art, and performance. Her current project deals with late antique ivories as a means of self-representation.
