Dr. Chatzopoulou is a Fellow of the Center of Excellence in Food, Tourism & Leisure (CoEFTL). Before joining The American College of Greece (ACG), Elena was a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Kent Business School. She holds a BSc and MSc from Athens University of Economics and Business and a PhD from Newcastle University, UK. Before joining academia, she had 7 years of working experience as a marketing manager. During her academic career, she has been investigating authenticity, quality, and identity concepts especially in digital platforms like Instagram and YouTube. She has received the “Best paper award” at the 17th IFIP Conference on e-Business, e-Services and e-Society, the “Teaching Excellence Award” by the Academy of Marketing, while she has also been awarded the “outstanding reviewer” and “outstanding contribution in reviewing” by the Computers in human behavior Journal. Dr. Chatzopoulou has been selected among many to write a case study for Kotler’s latest edition “Principles of Marketing”. She is a Board member of the Journal of Business and Management, in the Editorial Review & Advisory Board for Conferences (Global Business Research Journals), Member of EMAC, EURAM, AMA and AMS, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UKPSF D2) and she is also working on EU funded projects. Elena has supervised dissertations and theses of Marketing students and she is also doing consultancy for Companies in the retailing and digital sector.
