Anastasia Misseyanni is Professor at Deree-The American College of Greece; she holds a Ptychion in Chemistry from the University of Athens, a DEA (MSc) in Biochemistry from the University of Paris 7, a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Marburg and a MSc in Ecology and Biodiversity Management from the University of Athens. Her present research interests center around Mediterranean ecosystems and biodiversity, forest fires and ecosystem services, education for the environment and sustainability, environmental health, active and experiential learning in STEM disciplines. In the early years of her career, she conducted research on protein-DNA interactions, hormone-regulated and tissue-specific gene expression. She has developed and taught many undergraduate courses in the fields of chemistry, biological chemistry, environmental science and ecology and has contributed to the development of the Deree-ACG Environmental Studies and Biomedical Sciences BSc programs. She has served as program coordinator for Environmental Studies in the periods 2010-2020 and 2023-today, and as Head of the Department of Science and Mathematics from 2014 to 2020. She has also served as advisor to the Deree Environmental Studies Society and has contributed to efforts and initiatives to promote sustainability at ACG. She is actively engaged in international environmental education networks and serves as member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.
