Dr. Panagiotis Palaios

Assistant Professor of Economics and Economic Program Coordinator at Deree – ACG

Panagiotis Palaios is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Economic Program Coordinator at Deree – The American College of Greece. He previously taught at the National School of Public Administration and Harokopio University of Athens. As a teacher, he has taught Economics of Conflict and Security, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Maritime Economics. His primary research interests focus on the economics of conflict and security, international politics, and maritime economics, with an emphasis on public choice approach. His published articles have appeared in academic journals, such as the Scottish Journal of Political Economy, Empirical Economics, Defense and Peace Economics, Peace Economics, Peace Science and Public Policy, Maritime Policy and Management. In addition to his teaching, Panagiotis has served as Financial and Supply Officer of the Hellenic Navy, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and has held various positions, including as head economic advisor to the Deputy Minister of National Defense (2019-2022).
