ACG 150

Donating hope and life to those in need, amid the COVID-19 pandemic!

In response to the extraordinary circumstances that our country is experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the ACG community acted in support of the national efforts to replenish the dangerously low blood supplies of our nation’s hospitals. Following a special permission that was granted by the Ministry of Education, ACG opened its facilities for a three-day emergency blood drive held on 22, 23 and 24 April 2020. The blood drive, organized in collaboration with, and under the directions of EODY, was very successful, as 125 units of blood were collected for Evangelismos, Ag. Savvas and Paidon-Ag. Kyriakou Hospitals.

In total, 150 Deree students, Pierce, Deree and Alba faculty, staff and alumni, as well as Pierce parents, responded to our call. Since the number of volunteers was bigger than the number of people we could accommodate in those three days, we accepted EODY’s proposal to enhance our collaboration with more blood drives in the near future.

“We would like to thank all our volunteer blood donors for embracing our effort. True to its founding motto, “Non ministratri sed ministrare”, ACG will proudly continue to engage in social initiatives that benefit the broader society,” Claudia Carydis, Vice President of Public Affairs, concluded.
