Inaugural Astronomy Night: Collaboration between CoES and Deree Astronomy Club

On the night of September 29, 2023, the Center of Excellence in Sustainability and the Deree Astronomy Club joined forces to host the First Astronomy Night at Deree – The American College of Greece. This stellar event received generous support from the Hellenic Amateur Astronomy Union.

The event took place in a packed auditorium, where Professor Manolis Plionis, from the Department of Physics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Director and President of the Board of Directors of the National Observatory of Athens, along with being a member of the external Advisory Board of the CoES, delivered a captivating lecture titled “Modern Cosmology in the era of the James Webb Space Telescope.” After a piano performance by ACG alumnus, Nick Venner, the audience participated in a night sky observation.
