Dr. Stella Apostolaki, Assistant Professor and Executive Director of the Center of Excellence in Sustainability (CoES) at the American College of Greece (ACG), played a prominent role as a speaker in the three-day conference on “Energy Security and Green Growth,” held in Athens from November 27 to 29, 2023. The conference, organized by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy (MEE-Y.P.EN.), aimed to promote energy security and green growth perspectives at both national and European levels. Dr. Apostolaki contributed to a panel discussion on ‘Sustainable urban solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation, focusing on the city of Lavrion,’ held on November 29. The event, part of the “Communication action plan of the MEE-Y.P.EN.” project, was co-financed by the European Union and NSRF 2014-2020 funds, focusing on the “Transport Infrastructures, Environment and Sustainable Development” Operational Program. The conference addressed key themes such as respecting natural resources, energy transition, rational organization of human activities, integrated waste management, and electronic data system upgrades for environmental information accessibility. Participants included renowned scientists, experts, academics, business representatives, and authorities in the field of energy security and green growth.
