The American College of Greece (ACG) hosted a prestigious summer program, the Epistimi-Women in STEMM Leadership Workshop on “Women in the Energy Sector,” funded by the Henry Luce Foundation. The event, held from July 15-19, 2024, highlighted ACG’s commitment to sustainability and gender equality through the efforts of its Center of Excellence in Sustainability (CoES). Co-organized by the CoES and the EPISTIMI Organization, the workshop brought together 27 young women from 11 countries to foster leadership and innovation in the heavily male-dominated energy sector. The closing event featured the launch of the ΦSTEM group within CoES, designed to support women’s professional advancement in STEM fields.
CoES Executive Director Dr. Stella Apostolaki and Dr. Angeliki A. Rigos announced the initiative, which reflects CoES’s dedication to sustainability and empowering women. Attendees included Dr. Zefi Dimadama, who discussed “Promoting Gender Equality in Greece,” and representatives from the ATHENA Research Center, emphasizing the role of women in STEMM. The program concluded with a networking cocktail session, reinforcing CoES’s mission to drive positive change through diversity and innovation in the energy sector.
