Dr. Christos Sigalas joined the Management and International Business Department at Deree – The American College of Greece in 2016 and in 2018 became Assistant Professor. He has taught courses in the areas of Maritime Financial Management, Strategic Management, Business Strategy, Financial Modeling, Shipbroking and Chartering and Introduction to Shipping.

He has extensive teaching experience, as he had also taught undergraduate and graduate courses at University of Piraeus in the areas of Maritime Investment Appraisals (undergraduate course), Maritime Financing (undergraduate course), and Financial Analysis in Shipping (MSc course). In addition, he had been a faculty member at University of West Attica (former Technological Institute of Piraeus) where he had taught courses in the areas of Business Strategy, Administration of Accounting Department, Management of Small and Medium Enterprises, Management Information Systems, Research Methodology for Business Executives and Accounting Applications & Practices.

His research interests include strategic management, corporate finance, accounting and maritime financial management. He has contributed 22 manuscripts in academic journals, journals for practitioners, book chapters, conferences proceedings and economic press. One of his co-authored papers has received the 2014 Highly Commended Paper Award by Emerald for publishing in Journal of Strategy and Management and a second co-authored paper was received the IAME 2019 – Best Paper Award for the special session: Financial Risk Management and Investments in Maritime Transportation.

He serves as Director of the Board in ten ship-owning companies, in one ship management company and in one shipbroking company, subsidiaries of Seanergy Maritime Holding Corp., a maritime shipping holdings company listed on the NASDAQ Capital Market.
