Herbert Golder is Professor of Classical Studies at Boston University and Editor-in-Chief of Arion: A Journal of Humanities and the Classics. He earned his Ph.D. in Classical Languages and Literature from Yale University, and is recognized for his expertise in Greek drama, especially tragedy. In addition to his extensive publications on Greek Drama, he also served as General Editor of The Greek Tragedy in New Translations series published by Oxford University Press. His interest in the reception of the classics led to his involvement with film, and he has collaborated with the renowned filmmaker Werner Herzog on numerous projects, notably, My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done, which was nominated for a Gold Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2009. For bringing the classics to a larger audience he received the inaugural Outreach Award from the American Philological Association in 2003.
