Dr. Ioannis Kalaitzidis serves as an Associate Professor of Cognition and Education at Deree, as well as a Research Fellow at the Center of Excellence in Logistics, Shipping & Transportation (ACG 150). He earned his Ph.D. in Cognition from Macquarie University, where his research focused on the functional role of Creativity Processes on Working Memory. Dr. Kalaitzidis also holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and a B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Nottingham, along with a B.Sc. in Education from the University of Patras.

During his time in Australia, he worked as a Research Associate and Research Assistant at Macquarie University within the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences and Arts. His responsibilities included research on Mild Cognitive Impairment Prevention and the implementation and evaluation of Team-Based Learning Programs. He also delivered lectures on subjects within his areas of expertise, serving the Department of Education and the Department of International Studies. Dr. Kalaitzidis has also held positions as Director at The American College of Greece and the Educational Regeneration, where he was responsible for evaluating, selecting, and integrating curricula and learning materials. His primary focus has been on the professional development of staff, the effectiveness of teaching methodologies, and the introduction of new technologies.

In 2021, Dr. Kalaitzidis joined The American College of Greece as the Director of the newly established Elementary School. His areas of expertise encompass Cognitive Training, Working Memory, and Educational Psychology. His ongoing research centers on Maritime and Aviation Situational Awareness, specifically investigating the impact of Prospective Memory and Associative Processes on Information Processing and Working Memory capacity. He also conducts research in the field of Situational Awareness related to brain-computer interfaces, with the goal of enhancing human performance in complex cognitive tasks. Additionally, Dr. Kalaitzidis conducts research on the development of Assessment Methodologies for teaching and learning life skills in Primary Education.
