Nassos Sopilis is a distinguished composer, educator, and sound artist with an extensive career spanning film, television, theater, video games, and advertising. His compositions have been featured in award-winning productions recognized by the Hellenic Film Academy, the London Film Festival, and the Tribeca Film Festival. Notably, he has composed for acclaimed video games such as the Thinkrolls series and has contributed original scores to theater productions staged at prestigious venues, including the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus.
Beyond composition, Sopilis is an accomplished orchestrator and conductor. He collaborated with renowned Greek composer Mimis Plessas, orchestrating and conducting performances at major venues such as Alte Oper Frankfurt, Athens Megaron (ERT Symphony Orchestra & Athens Municipality Orchestra), and Thessaloniki Megaron. His expertise extends to audio production, and since 2020, he has collaborated with Stegi Radio, part of the Onassis Stegi Foundation.
Sopilis’ contributions to music have earned him multiple accolades, including the London Greek Film Festival’s First Prize for Music. He was awarded a full D.M.A. scholarship from the University of Miami and has been a Mensa International member since 1991.
A dedicated educator, Sopilis began teaching at the age of 18 as a Professor of Music at Eniaio Polykladiko Lykeio Neas Filadelfeias. He later joined The American College of Greece, where he taught at the Frances Rich School of Fine and Performing Arts. His teaching philosophy seamlessly integrates composition with technical expertise, ensuring that students develop both creative artistry and industry-relevant skills.
As Senior Advisor to the Dean at The American College of Greece, he continues to mentor aspiring composers, sound designers, and producers, equipping them with the knowledge and practical experience necessary to thrive in the modern music and sound production landscape.
