Building Bridges Through Sports and Culture

The 4th Greek-Turkish Media Academy Forum, hosted by the Institute of Global Affairs (IGA) in collaboration with the Türkiye Research Foundation (TAV),  highlighted how sports and culture can foster dialogue and cooperation between Greece and Turkey. Held at the Acropolis Museum, the event brought together cultural leaders and athletes to explore shared values, from cultural heritage to the unifying power of sports.

Distinguished panelists included Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, who emphasized the importance of cultural partnerships, and Acropolis Museum Director Nikolaos Stampolidis, advocating for a unified historical narrative. From the sports world, Panathinaikos basketball coach Ergin Ataman and Greek soccer star Tasos Bakasetas shared personal stories of cross-border camaraderie, showcasing the human side of diplomacy.
