Deree Students Experience Human Rights Protections in Action

Twenty-one Deree students visited Strasbourg for an in-depth exploration of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights, supported by the Institute for Global Affairs, the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the IREA Student Society. The visit included meetings with European human rights leaders and insights into significant cases like Semenya v. Switzerland. This educational journey, led by Assistant Professor Effie Fokas and Ms. Melina Sgourou, enhanced students’ understanding of European human rights mechanisms, demonstrating the value of such experiential learning opportunities.
